很难说1986年的《壮志凌云》（TOP GUN）是一部靠剧情取胜的影片，不过依靠美国海军的鼎力支持，投入货真价实的F-14“雄猫”王牌战斗机演绎激烈的空战场面，加上当时青涩帅气的汤姆·克鲁斯的演出，加上Berlin演唱的那首风靡一时的主题曲“Take My Breath Away”，《壮志凌云》可是赚得盆满钵满，该片甚至被视为最牛的征兵广告，吸引了大批年轻人加入空军一展抱负。 

           片中汤姆·克鲁斯与女主角凯丽·麦克吉利斯柔情蜜意时吟唱出这首动人的旋律，便是该片的主题曲“Take My Breath Away”（让我无法呼吸）。该曲由当时红极一时的Berlin（柏林乐队）的主唱特瑞·纳恩（Terri Nunn）演绎，该曲真情感人，那种让你心跳加快、停止呼吸的激动感觉，对渲染主人公的内心情感起到了不可替代的作用。它获得了第59届奥斯卡最佳原创音乐奖，也成了风靡至今的情歌金曲，成为无数人传唱的经典。只要是有关奥斯卡经典情歌的合集，基本无一例外地收录了该曲。该曲发行后不久，风头正劲的柏林乐队却因种种原因宣告解散，不能不说是一个遗憾。

       另外值得一提的是该主题曲的作曲——Giorgio Moroder（乔治·莫罗德）。也许很多人不是很了解他，但是他的作曲作品除了这首我们熟悉的“Take My Breath Away”，还有84年洛杉矶奥运会会歌《冲刺》、88年汉城奥运会主题曲《心手相连》、90年世界杯的会歌《意大利之夏》，2008年他和中国钢琴演奏家孔祥东一起创作的《永远的朋友》成为2008年北京奥运会主题曲候选曲目的大热门。从上世纪70年代的迪斯科大师，到如雷贯耳的体育歌曲之王，没有上过一天音乐学院的Giorgio Moroder简直是一个传奇。

         另一首试听曲目“Top Gun Anthem”也是一首很有特色的插曲。该曲出现在影片结尾的时候，克鲁斯饰演的Maverick，站在航母的舰桥上，将死去战友的标识牌抛向大海，该曲的旋律达到了高潮。这是一首充满激情的旋律，伴随着主人公战胜困境，战胜自我的心路历程，带有浓厚的感情升华的色彩。
